They discuss how the pandemic has affected holiday celebrations both in Denver, Colorado as well as in Freiburg, Germany, forcing families to make tough choices when it comes to protecting their vulnerable loved ones.
In their "What's Life Really Like" segment, they discuss how Schools and Restaurants have closed early for the Christmas holiday in Germany, while in contrast, Denver has allowed restaurants with outdoor seating to remain open.
Then in the "Expert's Corner," they interview, Neha Basnet - a Nepalese Social sciences researcher pursuing her Ph.D. in youth studies at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. They discuss her upcoming courses for Research Methodologies as well as Monitoring and Evaluation. In episode 7 Rico and Patrick catch up on news about Covid-19. Comparing the growing cases of Covid-19 in Denver where Rico lives versus the rise in cases in Germany, where Patrick has made his home away from the USA.
They cover the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg's (RBG) passing on Sept. 18th and how Trump's Nominee (Now Justice of the Supreme Court), Amy Coney Barrett will change how the court rules on major issues having to do with voting as well as women's rights.
In their topic of the week, they discuss the popular radio show and now podcast, "Democracy Now!" Led by legendary journalist, Amy Goodman.
Then in the "Expert's Corner," they interview, Alexander Forbes - IELTS Expert - Turkish to English Intercultural Communication - “Pop” Music theory enthusiast. Where they discuss the connection between learning a language and truly connected to the culture from which the language springs from.
Rico reviews the word of the week: Contex vs. Contextualize.

We finally review one of the words of the Podcast, "Microaggression" and do our best to break down its meaning and to give examples.

We recorded this episode way back on Juneteenth. Father's day was around the corner in the US back then. Thinking about fathers makes us recall the events of the past few weeks having to do with Black men being taken away from their children due to police violence.
